about muses publishing press

Writing has always been a constant in my life. Ever since I was young, I always relied on writing every second I could. I created stories while walking down the street. I typed poetry on my phone. I jotted down prompts in notebooks.

As I grew older, my love for creating grew as well, but a realization dawned upon me. Being an artist–whether that be a writer, illustrator, painter, photographer, or more–could be very solitary. I would create late at night alone, and that left little space for community. I wanted to share my work and read other’s work as well, but I wasn’t sure how to build a space that welcomed that in.

After creating my first unofficial chapbook–a flimsy, stapled together version of what would eventually become the chapbook MUSES–something clicked in my head. Chapbooks could create a community. When I started Muses Publishing Press, I wanted it to be a space where people could share their voices and be published, but also a space to read and see other people’s works as well. Through everyone’s published chapbooks, it would become a hub for art and writing, and a space for community in an otherwise solitary craft.

Muses Publishing Press has allowed for that to happen, as we currently have published five works from authors all over the country, from New York to California to Tennessee–and our community will only grow stronger and larger from here.

Creation has always been a constant in my life, and I don’t plan on changing that. I hope you grow inspired from the creations here at Muses Publishing Press, and join our community as well.

Nicola
